Evans Cycles, the UK-based cycle shop chain, recently launched their own range of cycle accessories, under the name Pinnacle.
We have extensively tested the road and MTB shoes – plus the Pinnacle WND gloves.
First, the shoes:
For the current Evans website price of £50, these are great value. They are of the same standard as the much more expensive Shimano shoes that I bought from the LBS. The cleats fixings are standard and they feel premium. Out on a ride, they feel stiff and there is nothing to complain about.
The same goes for the MTB shoes.
The range also includes a beanie hat, arm and leg warmers, a neck warmer and overshoes. The WND gloves were used on the bike and also out running. On each occasion, the weather was at or near freezing.
The gloves sent were slightly too small for my very large hands, however, they were warm and comfortable. Evans also make a more extreme glove for even worse conditions.
It’s welcome to see a range of very good products that don’t break the bank. Older cyclists will recall a time when cycling wasn’t a fashion parade at the cafe/Instagram, and was a leisure or commuting activity that required clothes that did the job. Evans buying power and distribution model seems to have hit the spot.
